So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hey everyone, I just got an acoustic guitar today (ive been playing an electric for like a year) and have been struggling to play it. Anyone have suggestions/recomendations on making the cross over? Thanks

Strings are most likely harder to press down, as well as strumming is more difficult. Start out with simple chord changes, you could use some Dave songs for that. Just getting used to it takes a little while, keep at it :)

Yea man of the hour is right, harder to get the strings down correctly and strumming is more difficult. I practiced for a couple hours the last couple days and its not too bad anymore.

depends what style of music you've been playing. i guess if you're used to playing fierce lead, you'll have a bit of trouble switching. someone said play dave, and although that sounds like a random comment, it's good advice. learn dave's strumming and muting techniques, they'll help you playing acoustic.

so you've been playing an electric for the past year, like someone else asked, what have you been struggling with? i have an electric but i didn't get it until i had already been playing for like three years so when i got it i was struggling with bending and fretting the strings too hard. soo, what i was gonna say was that i started playing the acoustic using medium strings and then i worked my way down to custom light. maybe if you try out different types of gauges of strings you'll find the control you want. also, are you using an amp or any kinds of processors?
