all mahogany guitars?

Post by juineaux »

What are everyones opinion on these? I've only played one and it sounded great, but it was also a $3000 santa cruz, so it could of just been great craftsmanship. Just looking for opinions-

I own a Martin D-15 and love it. Incredible tone; you can run into problems plugging in because the bass tends to overwhelm the rest of the sound, although it doesn't sound like that at all when playing without plugging in, and it doesn't sound like that mic'd.

Wrong on all accounts.

My guitar has an all mahogany body and some other wood for the top.

There is more bass then a school of fish.

I own a D-15 and a modest recording set-up yet people are always amazed by the sound. In fact I would be happy to take the pepsi challenge with someones overpriced Taylor.

It's a great guitar for the price. I've had mine for 4 years and have been less than friendly to it yet it keeps on chugging. It also has a wonderful low end that is usually lacking in lower priced guitars and Taylors. It depends on what you play really. An all mahogony dreadnought will match one player perfectly while another thinks it crap. Either way it's a quality instrument and I've never had reason to complain.

That's what Martins excell in and Taylors lack

My Washburn is mahogany all over, and it sounds great. It is a little bass-heavy, but that's how I like it.

I own a Taylor 314ce limited and a Martin D-15. I bought the Martin as a travel guitar, but lately I find myself picking up the all mahogany Martin much more often than my beloved Taylor.

I love my 000-15! Booming bass and a nice bright high end.
