When I used to be in my band, Shades Of Bacchus, I always wore them. The drummer was so loud we guitarists had everything turned to 11 all the time. It kind of sucked, hence the band disbanding. Glad I wore them though, or else I'd probably have that ringing too.

when I play live I either wear earplugs or if my firend brings his IEM's we attempt to use those. At home I use these Vic Firth studio headphones (60$) that by far the best isolation headphones I have ever used. Amazing.

Loss of hearing for any musician would be tragic, just ask Beethoven, who went deaf at the height of his inspiration. I can't stand it when people play loud at music stores. What are they trying to prove?

I thought Beethoven was deaf before he got famous.
