Dude where ever you heard that if you didnt hear it from Mayers mouth i garauntee he didnt say it. He respects Dave a ton. He makes fun of him but he makes fun of him because he likes him if that makes sense.

Plus John is definatly a better guitarist, compare Daves music to Johns. You can tell that Johns stuff is more complicated. Though they are both good guitarists.

And being good at guitar has nothing to do with selling out shows. It just depends on how good your sound is. And I like them both pretty much the same.

Dave played three nights at Giant Stadium but never sold all three shows out.

Check your sources dude your most likely wrong.

ok, mayer didnt diss dave, of the artists hes covered are, SRV, the Police, and dave... he did LYD and i hear its pretty kick ass. he likes dave, you can tell by his playing that he knows daves style, i see little nuances between them.

John's stuff isn't more complicated per se. He has a huge thumb, but Dave's music is more technically sound. John's at his best when he solos...

Like I said John Mayer. Dave has good songs and some difficult ones too but John is definatly a better overall guitarist.

true, I would have to say that John Mayer is a better guitarist than Dave. but at the same time, tim reynolds would smoke mayer on guitar...so that goes to show how much being a better guitar player matters. When would you ever go see just Tim Reynolds?(don't, it's boring) ....Dave just has the best songs, that's why he's the best out of all three.
