John Mayer-- "Your Body is a Wonderland" help
I know he finger picks this song. But for the life of me I can't play this song at all. What fingers does he use to hit the strings? I know he uses his thumb for the top 2 strings. But what about the other strings? Any other suggestions that would maybe help me out?
Any help/tips are aprreciated. Thanks

						Hope this helps
Try using your 1 & 2 fingers (index and middle) while using the thumb to strike the bass chords. Also on the chorus i use my 1, 2, and 3 fingers. I hope that helps, I think that is what your asking.

I was wondering what fingers he use's on his right hand. I've watched a video of him playing it, but I didn't gather anything from that. It looks like only his thumb moves.

I play the majority of the song (maybe the whole song) with just my thumb. Pluck the first note of the verse with the thumb, then strum the 1010 (that I barre) with my thumb, pick up my fretting hand and do a muted slap then press do another 1010 strum with my thumb and repeat the process over and over again for the verse. As for the rest of the song I pretty much follow that type of pattern. I dont have my guitar on me right now but if you need help with the rest of the song post again and Ill bust it out and see how I play it. I just tried it with my index and ring finger too and that works, I dont know how John plays it but I like it with my thumb better cuz I think its eaasier because thats how I learned it and came natural to me. Whichever way works though I guess.

just thought I'd add that in this month's issue of GuitarWorld Acoustic John explains how to play that song in his column, you might give it a look it's very helpful.

Definately get the Guitar World issue. It definatley helped me out. Patrickw25 does the Bbsus2 sound right to you on that? It just doesn't sound right when I'm playing the song to an acoustic version of John playing that song.

Bbsus2
it sounds dead on to me, but I've also always played it that way, I actually learned that song from a video I got off Kazaa of John playing it acoustically.

Guitar World Acoustic
John has a column in the newest version of Guitar World Acoustic in which he gives a tab as well as instruction on playing "Your Body Is A Wonderland"...
It is extremely helpfull, plus its only $5 and the other articles are pretty helpful as well...
I believe it is issue number 60 if you're interested...
