I have a confession . . .

I used to preach using Dean Markley strings. I now do not use them (except for my classical guitar)

I am now a DR (the handmade strings) fulltme user :)

They are similar to the Dean Markleys, but last longer. They also are more agressive with still the warm fullness that Dean Markleys strings have. They are also handmade, and actualy contain more metal as well without being thicker and such.

Now, the only other strings I use are Gibson Electric Flatwires for my arch top electric.

While it's very much Ok to declare your fav. string brand and model... I do beleive that even the shittiest string choice on one guitar could make another sound beautiful. Aside from the usual coated/ non coated etc... everything is subject to the specific guitar at hand.
For me, nothing has sounded good in my opinion besides d'addario extra lights, I own a Dean exotica fm.

I think what your saying is you dont like D'addarios?... If so...

Ill have to disagree with you on that. In my experiences with strings, there(D'addarios) the only strings Ive used that last longer then 3 weeks...and dont have that 'build up' on them. Elixars always seemed to have that buildup. Also while playing seems to always break easier.

By the way I reckmend the D'addarios EXP11 (Lights). -Thumbsup- X4!

i use daddarrios, never had a problem. the only others ive tried are the martin sp's and i wasnt impressed with them. its weird cause you cant try strings out. you have to buy them and hope they sound good. i wish i could line up six of the same acoustic and have them all with different strings so i could puck the ones i wanted... thatd be hot

I completely disagree..D'addario's may lose their sound after some damn long playing, but for the casual day to day playing, they hold up for weeks

wow, everything ive heard and experianced is different. I used them a few times, was blown away by the sound, then it got duller and duller, so i got a new set, strung it up, once again, blown away. then duller and duller, so i got some other strings. Even the guys at the stores agree with me on this one, i mean, they said dont get the d'adarios ($15) get these, they sound better longer Martin SP's ($7) i plan on getting DR's soon though.

You're getting ripped off at 15 bucks a pack for d'addarios..I get a 3 pack for 15 bucks..

You also probably play a lot more then most people here.. I only play once or twice a day for maybe an hour total.. so my strings last me a long time.. granted, when I played for 5 hours a day when i started, i used elixirs, but now i don't need to spend 15 bucks for a pack of strings when they sound just as good as a 6 buck pack that lasts me long enough
