how to do first hammer-on in Granny

i am having a heck of a time trying to figure out a good fingering that will allow me to do the first hammer-on in the song, Granny! My hand feels most comfortable with my Pointer finger on the B string and my ring and pinky on the G and D strings...how do you pros play it that allows a hammer on the B?? Here's the tab for reference:

i use my pinky to hammer-on

pointer on the b, ring on g, middle on d, pinky hammer-on b

i usually play this:

yeah, i tried that this morning and it was coming along quite nicely...now i have to work on not muting the b with my ring finger (a slight bend of the strings should do the trick)

i have a pretty hard time with this too, my problem is i have fat fingers and my pinky hits my ringfinger, or i cant hit the string hard enough to make it sound right. any help?

Try changing your hand position a little bit , sometimes thats all it needs

I usually just do an open D chord for that part. It makes it easier.

Something like this:

thanks chris! that made all the difference!! it sounds so much smoother and clearer and because you aren't moving your hand as much its easier to play at speed...thanks again!
