I love the playability of the Chet. It has an acoustic quality, yet it is really an electric guitar.

It's great for playing with a band, or jamming with 3 or 4 people. You can plug in, and if volumes are higher, you can still be heard without feedback.

Also, what I use it for mostly, effects laden acoustic instrumentals. Wah, a little overdrive and delay, and I never have to worry about feedback.

Yeah, buy it! Also, the chet is talked about ALL OVER these boards. the Epi chet is not as good quakity wood, pickups, and well, just lower quality on everything. Doesn't make it bad as a solid bodied acoustic, but compared to the gibson, it's only ok.

Also, Dave doesn't use it in the studio. In the studio he uses holowed bodied ones (his taylors, martins, and his yamaha). The reason is that you can't mic a chet, and micing a guitar is better than a pickup in the studio for a more natural sound. Live, though, it's the other way around.

Gibson Chet...

Post by GrateDMB21 »

I bought a USED Gibson Chet for about $900. Its an awesome guitar. I did however send it to Fishman to get the same electronics and setup as Daves. That was another $200, but it was well worth it. It's all I ever play now. I'm running it through a Roland AC-60 amp and a Aphex Acoustic Xciter pedal. It jus sounds perfect! Not a single complaint about the guitar. If anyone needs any info on getting a hold of Fishman to get theirs done I'll glady help...

I wouldnt be so sure. Dave's sound wasnt a natrual acoustic sound and on Crash you dont really hear the natrual full-bodied acoustic sound. Besides, they credit Gibson on the cover.
