So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

On the new video for this song, during the intro he does something a little different during the 0 to 577 part, what is he doing? It is not the fill with the 557, 47 thing though. Thanks for your help

the only video i saw wasn't too new, it was an older one of Ole playing it. i guess it's recently "stickied" though, so that might be the one you're talking about.

he's only doing what the tab already says man. what you're hearing is the 47 thing. it's kind of a slide up the fret. check out the video of dave doing it on the AOL sessions version.

here's the video of dave i was talking about it you haven't already seen it.

just search for matthews, dave, and you'll see it easy. dave only plays it this way if it's solo acoustic or D&T, otherwise with a full band he just bangs the shit out of that 557.

Funny, I was doing this last night. I'm at work, so if you still need it later I'll tab it out for you.

so during the 577 part, all he is doing differently is the 577 to 557 or 577 to 47?

no i'm sorry man. i f'ed up my post. i didn't mean to type 557 for any of it, because he doesn't play that. you're right, it's 577 to 47. just listen to an acoustic version (if you have one) and you'll hear it.
