there are a couple of parts in the verse and breakdown where there should be it seems two X's for the mutes but there is only one, but there isnt a 0 to show that the string should be played,

Yeah, your are right, just strum an open string on all of those. You can usually rest assured that an open D string will always sound good. Remember to hit this chord again real quick after the first run through of the breakdown, he doesnt have it on the tab...
