Dunlop Picks

Post by two_stepper10 »

Looking to buy some new picks and going between the Dunlop Ultex and the Gator Grips. They claim the gator grip will stay firmly in place, something I have a problem with with my Jim Dunlop Nylon that I use. So has anyone used/uses the Gator Grips and they are pretty god picks that dont slip? Any Ultex players?

i use the nylons and they dont slip. i think its in the player, not the pick. just food for thought.

gator grips don't slip for about a day and then you wear off all of the grip :(

I would get the Ultex just because they are made out of better material. To help with grip, here's a little trick i do:

Take a razorblade (boxcutter) and cut lines going across the pick in one direction and the overlapping the other direction. like this - //// \\\\ they should overlap though to make a bunch of X's.

do it on both sides and you won't drop it.

Yea, just punch a hole in the pick. I use those Dunlop Oranges. As soon as I get a batch I take a single hole punch and make a hole right in the center. I've never had any problems with picks slipping since I started doing that.

These work pretty well, and they already have a nice star shaped hole in them...

or you guys could just practice enough with normal everyday picks and you won't drop them... I use dunlop .60 tortex and have NEVER dropped one while playing..i've accidentally dropped them in my guitar while tapping on the pickguard with it or something..never while playing.. i suggest practicing with normal picks

exactly, i think it is all about testing out a lot of different thicknesses and finding the one that you feel best with and you won't drop. use the orange and the green tortex's.

i prefer tortex .5 mm, they're nice and light so i can strum my arm off and not produce any angry buzzing, i use a patch of duct tape to prevent slippage and add to the look. (duct tape for president)
