becuase the guy doesn't change styles all that much. he has a great sense of rhythm. I mean im not trying to say your wong, but i guess some of his more 'radical' stuff is appreciated after you get hooked into him

You really ask why?

I'm guessing you've heard all of Daves enourmous catalog and yet you've only heard clips of Tim and then you proceed to want to directly compare them. Come on man are you just try to get under my skin?

well i dont think dave is a jamming master, i mean he jams well, but tell me a diffence in the two step from the gorge and two step from CP, exactly the same, and the same thing with jimi thing, the same except for warren, and they were recorded over a year apart, so yeah he can jam, but he doesnt seem to be as great as like live improv where its a very key element to the song...

tim has him there, 50% of a tim show is improv, he could have the same set for a whole tour, and everyshow be different. his hands are fast, but he has songs where he goes nice and smooth and quite and then just explodes into some of the craziest solos out there. tim is a better guitarist hands down...

But a better all around musician, id say dave. but really they cant be compared, dave has a band, tim is solo, dave sings, tim doesnt much, lyrics are very important in daves songs, tim doesnt have any, so i mean tim is the better guitarist by far, but dave is a better musician than tim. one thing i will to both of them is that they have very creative and original styles, you dont see that much now days. you dont see any major formations in any of their stuff, its all very very well thought out.

i truly am sorry okay, im not tryin to "get under your skin" or piss u off, i wanted to hear some peoples opinions and put my own opinions out there, tim is the better player but i like dave better and thats my opinion. You too have an opinion that clearly differs from mine, but thats no reason to call me a dave wannabe or post that anything i have to say about guitar is to be neglected. I've heard tim on Under the table and Dreaming, or course Live at Luther College, and some tidbits of solos online, I just dont like his style as much, which is why Dave is my fave and that is the pole question. Im not trying to directly compare them, i just was curious as to who was peoples fave. Curiosity really did kill that damn cat...

But you have yet to hear Tim's stuff so how can you compare them? Not to mention they're styles and what they try to say with they're music is so different from one another comparing them is pointless. Why compare an apple to an orange?

Tim is the better guitarist. Dave is the better lyricist.

D + T = Kick ass, who cares who better at what?

most are solor
some are band
he has a band nameed puke matrix, formerly tr3

some good albums, as Ranting about some of these as well, he knows and owns more than me :( that bastard! :P

Sanctuary - first cd is heavy metal, not a normal Tim, but very very very good. second disk is an awesome multi cultural influenced music cd.

Gossip of the Nuerons - a concert without the audience. truely an amazing cd, this is the album that got me into it. Half the songs were improvised

Astral Projection -Ranting will fill you in, this is his favorite album i believe, as well was See Into Your Soul

Nomadic Wavelength- c'mon besest album name ever for some incredible music

Stream - solo acoustic guitar, DAMN!!!!!!

Chaos View - get the DVD, for this one, it's powerful... damn...
