i've been playing 41 for over a year now and i was playing it fine...and then recently it seems that when i play the verse sometimes i completely miss hitting the A string and sometimes i flub it and sometimes it's fine...i just don't get why it is degressing...

sitting..i suck at playing standing up
Id just say be sure to strum all the way through the guitar itself. It doesnt sound too bad without accenting the bass notes.

A: i've heard dave play it that way in basically every show he plays it
B: I used to be able to accent those notes

because:
A: i've heard dave play it that way in basically every show he plays it
B: I used to be able to accent those notes
Just practice that part for like 5 or 10 minutes. Just play it over and over and play with your strumming and you'll get into a pattern where you are still strumming but will hit the A string notes super quick. Just develop a "flow" more or less.
I'd like to add you should play it slowly and play it right when you practice it. Sometimes we'll forget to practice songs occasionally and gradually begin to play it worse and worse.
