The Watchtower

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

The Watchtower

Post by dmfollower »

Does anyone have this bootleg? Its in Arlington, Va. 9/11/92 at the Delta Kappa Epsilon House. This is the earliest show i have from dave aside from the Rutabega Demos which is Dave solo on 1/5/92. This is one of my favorite shows to listen to cause the first 4 tracks are dave solo playin "Seek Up", DIDO, LIOG and Dancing Nancies. Seek up and DIDO are completely new and don't have any solid lyrics yet. Its soo fresh, the band had only just started playing together. Does anyone have any earlier stuff?

"This is kind of new, so expecting words would be a little much. But i'll do my best to make some." --Dave
"They called it Aspen because "buttpencil" was already taken."

That quote sounds real familiar, but I don't think I have that show. I might have downloaded that seek up, is that where he says it???

yeah, that's how the bootleg i have starts off, with that quote and then he starts seek up. i love it, if you listen to that song right at the end and i don't know if your download has it but if you listen real close you hear dave say "hey....that was good. i hope lauren was taping that so i can write some of it down." i don't know, when i try to compare myself to dave and all his amazing talents i just get blown away but hearing dave and the band play soo long ago and soo young it kind of comforting hearing then in such a "green" state. y'dig?

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. It really should encourage all of us to DL some of their old stuff to see how far they have come in 10 years or so. It really reminds me of seeing some local bands play. The rawness of it if that makes any sense.

the 00 means that the exact date is unknown.
