fake (epi) chet

or this tak:

i played this today and i almost fell in love. I like how the body is slimmer then a normal acoustic, and it was just comfy and easy to play.
in terms of quality, what are we looking at for each?

wow, that looks JUST like my tak, only the specs are much better. I'd choose that tak, because it's so much more versitile than the chet. 1) you can play the tak unplugged and it will sound beautiful. 2) you can play the tak plugged and it will sound beautiful. Either way you look at it, get the tak.

I'd probably go with the Tak also, just for the reason that you can play it unplugged.. I think of the Chet as more of a stage guitar than something to sit around playing, but that's just me.

The Chet is good if you're going to be playing with other people. You also need a halfway decent acoustic amp to get the best sound out it. Mines great! Very playable neck and close action. If you're going to be playing it mostly by yourself you might enjoy the Tak more though.
If you do go with the Chet, check ebay. I got mine for $275 with case.

Unless you are going to put the good electronics in the Epi Chet, get the Tak.

I agree with the consensus, go with the Tak. More versatile, Epi's are too hit-and-miss (with shitty woods and electronics), and you HAVE to have an amp to hear basically anything out of 'em.

Someone bought the damn Tak. What are the odds of that? Bullshit I say. I ended up getting some 500 dollar Yamaha. It plays super nice. I also played some really...really high end taylors, and I couldn't even see myself playing with one in fear of my knocking it on the chair or something.

I don't pay for anything guitar related. And I'm just trying it out. If it sounds good, plugs in, has low action, and stays in tune, it's a good guitar.
