I saw this jazz group performing yesterday, and the bass player was all over the place-- it didn't do anything for me. I mean, he was playing the correct scales, in the correct key, etc. etc. but it didn't do anything to help the song.

yeah, but what i mean is bass players that don't create a groove. 555555555577777777773333333333 as fast as you can doesn't seem like a groove to me.
