How much bettter (in general) is the Gibson Les Paul line over Epiphone's?

I'm thinking of getting a Epiphone pauly but I don't want it if it's crap. Do they make good ones?

Yeah, it's kind obvious that the Gibsons are better.

I'd like to change my question to: Are Epiphone Les Paul any good?

I have an Epi Les Paul standard and I love it. I've played Gibson's and yes they are better, but they are WAY better than the newer Epi's.

The older Epi's, like mine, are made better than the ones they make now.

there's a reason why I have a GIBSON Les Paul bumber sticker, a GIBSON Les Paul shirt, and a GIBSON Custom Shop shirt (I've gotten them in the past 3 years, both of the shirts are pretty kewl).

by the way, i just wanna say i played my friends Les Paul Classic through his Marshall Mode 4 Halfstack and it sounded sweeeeeeeeeeeet.... tone is amazing.

i like my Godin's tone better than a Les Paul, but that amp is incredible.

if im not mistaken hendrix used a Marshall Plexi.. chances are thats out of you price range since a real Plexi is over $3k.. Fenders are NOT good amps... went to a gig friday night, guy played a les paul through a deluxe 90... BAD TONE...

if you want a Fender-ish tone, with a Marshall Crunch, check out Traynor amps.. i own the YCV80 and its awesome. relatively cheap too..
