The Softer Sound

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

The Softer Sound

Post by CPTino3001 »

On many songs, Dave has an extremely soft guitar sound, especially on the Two Step Intro, is he just fretting on the bar itself as opposed to before the bar?

Thats the only way I can seem to duplicate that sound...

he could be doing that, but i bet it is just his great style. on the passion intro to warehouse on L@LC he probably does what you are talking about though

I doubt he's fretting the actual fret bar. He's probably slightly palm muting.

Punk and metal palm muting usually require you putting the heel of your hand right on the strings just after the bridge. When you partial palm mute, you'd put your heel of your hand on the saddle or a little behind, so you get the same effect but the strings ring a little more.

Does anyone know where you can get a lesson on that online? People are always posting places for chords and strumming and such..but is there a palm mute lesson or something along those lines? Or is anyone really willing to explain it fully? Thanks
