Jack Johnson cover (with words)

Post by UNCcrombie »

hey all, i've been itchin to record this for months, and finally bought some studio headphones to do so. anyways, it's not the hardest song in the world (Times Like These) but it's my first time singing and playing. I forgot the ending slides so I didn't play them.

i posted over at ants, they told me about singing from the gut and addings some fills during the dead space.

other than that i'd like to hear what you all have to say

Hey there... "Times Like These" is one of my favorite John Johnson songs, so I'm happy that someone covered it

Good job... some recommendations: watch the 'key' of your vocals. I think that you're singing a few steps too low. I like simple interpretation of the song though... sort of sounds like Lou Reed to me. Also, be more confident in your vocals... I think that you can hold the notes longer and sing with more force.

Keep up the playing and practicing.

I think that hearing whether or not you're in key simply comes with practice. At first I couldn't hear it, now I'm much better.... no secret formula... just from practicing singing.
