ok i first heard this song last night and loved it so i haven't had much time to refine this song at all. i always make changes to the song when i do a cover so when critiquing keep that in mind. i realize my voice kind of fizzles on the high parts of the chorus, does timing your breathing better help with that? any help will be greatly appreciated. http://www.bauer.cx/cannonballcover.mp3
of course improving your breathing techniques will improve the quality and consistency of your voice. overall i thought it wasnt bad at all and the vocals were fair.
do you have any tips for staying in rhythm? buy a metronome? tap the foot? i don't thinking tapping the foot would help me because i'd just get lazy and fall off the beat or something. anyone know if there's a program that just plays clicks at varying bpms to play to?
Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": tartar sauce tartar sauce tartar sauce tartar sauce tartar sauce tartar sauce tartar sauce tartar sauce
Keep the foot tapping. You won't get lazy if you do it right and you won't even know you're doing it after enough practice. I read somewhere that the best musical advice Dave Matthews ever received was simply "keep that foot tapping."

I meant your strumming pattern. It sounds like you don't have the guitar down, you're missing notes, and the vocals come in late on occasion.

I believe that dave gave the advice of "Never stop strumming" and "keep that foot tapping"
either way, just get into a pattern that you can keep throughout the whole song to keep the rythm
I've never heard the song before(don't listen to damien rice) but it sounded good..vocals sound like they could use some work.. be more confident with them

Yeah like I said I just heard the song the night before so I wasn't comfortable with it like most of my covers. Thanks for all the comments though, exactly what I needed. The confidence with my voice is coming slow but I'll have to post my karaoke version of Beck's "debra" sometime just for kicks.
hard song to sing, so i didn't htink the vocals were bad at all...the guitar parts not too tough though so i bet you can refine that a lot. make sure your only using downstrokes at the beginning of the verse part.
Yeah you really need to keep the rythm of the song. I know how to play and to get the rythm down you have to listen to the song really closely. Just practice and you will get it sooner or later
i am curious as to what tab u are using for this song if u are using one at all cuz all the ones i've found for this song have not been entirely accurate? but it sounded real good to me. i love damien and i especially love this song and i think u did it justice.
