Raised B on average guitar

Post by eigsterg »

Can someone tell me if I can take the second six strings of a twelve string guitar and string them with no harm onto my guitar to tune it to raised B?

umm, i know how to do it, but like are you trying to have a 12-string in raised b, or the regular 6 strings in standard, and the ones an octave up in
raised b.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": You're a hooker? Jesus, I forgot! I just thought I was doing GREAT with you!

nope this is not the way to go about doing this. read the faq for stringing a guitar to raised B. as for what you described, it is sometimes called nashville tuning, where you take the octave strings from a 12 string set and string them up. you will only have one wound string (the low E).

This can give a really cool sound especially when playing with multiple rhythm guitarists. I used to do this to justify having 3 rhythm guitarists at a church i went to. I usually led on the "Nashville" guitar and i'd let 2 kids from the youth group play too.
