Want to ask about strings, maintenance, amps, mics, or comparisons of different guitars or any music equipment? This is for all threads related to music equipment.
I'm getting one or the other, but I was wondering what the main difference was between the two... I mean is it worth it to spend the extra money for the HD?
The HD has herringbone binding, scalloped bracing, and the V-shaped neck (with antique appointments). Go to a guitar store and play them both, and decide which one you like more. There's quite a few people who don't like the V neck, and most people think the HD- has a fuller sound.
I've played the D-28 and love it, but I havent been able to find a HD anywhere to compare. I can order it, but I don't want to order without playing first...... I was just wondering what the main difference was. I plan on having this guitar forever and not buying another one for quite some time. I guess I'll have to find a HD somewhere to play it.... Has anyone here played both?
I've played all three...and in my opinion the HD-28v is superior (the reason why I got it) Just everything about it turned me on. Although some people don't like it, the modified v-neck is awesome

How much did you pay for it..... Cheapest I've seen is around $2,600.00
Well, the HD-28 doesn't have a V-neck. The HD-28V has a V-neck. I also found out my Michael Kelly has herringbone binding. I still can't believe I got this off these boards for 250 plus shipping.
The V neck is one of those things that people seem to love or hate. I just can't work with a V neck, so I got a regular HD28. Some great players I know love them though, so YMMV. Play both side by side and take the one home that feels most comfortable.

Well by looking at my screen name you will see I have a bias. But real quick, I will say I love my 28V, great sound, hi reviews by fellow martin players that know a hell of a lot more than me and played my guitar and something that you can keep for a lifetime if you treat it right.
