bass guitar is a guitar, and thusly they are both bassists and guitarists.

i might get shot for this, but i dont think dave belongs on the list at all.. hes a one trick pony.

but anyway, in no particular order

Tim Reynolds
Shane Barnard
Joe Satriani
Kirk Hamett
Eric Clapton
Van Halen
Slash (who by the way, has the best tone ever achieved by man)
im also tempted to put David Crowder, but im not sure. while very Dave Matthews-ish in style of playing, hes able to throw in stuff that is very different from dave... hard to explain.

edit: if robert randolph counts as guitar, hes on the list.


anyway, i think thats a good list right there.

I agree.. they don't mean someone who plays a guitar.. they mean a guitarist..which victor/stefan is not

this isnt choosing the 5 best guitarists, its for naming the 5 guitarists that inspire us, or we like to listen to.

That's laughable. :shock:

In any event, I'm glad so many took the time to respond to my thread, but like I said in my original post, this is not a "Who are the 5 greatest guitarists" list, it's "These are MY favorites". There are no right or wrong answers and it's not even up for debate, it's who you like. :D
