Because I'm curious.....Drills, which do you think are most important (if any) and how often do you do them? THanks for the advice

I do scales while just sittin around jamming. They help for lead and speed!

What I've found to be extremely helpful is learning scale sequences. Your ability to improvise melody will improve a lot if you do them.
I also practice triads and intervals on varying string sets and harmonized scales as well.
Leaning the notes all over the neck never hurt either.

I don't practice this stuff as much as I should.

I do, just about every time I play, which is several hours or more everyday. I don't do them as much as I should, but I'll run through a couple when I start to loosen up.

Major scales, all positions, in thirds up and down the fretboard!
That's what I should be doing. In reality I'll do C and maybe G major like that once or twice every couple of weeks. It's a great exercise that will really put the major scales in your fingers. Unfortunately it can be tedious as hell getting started with it.

What do you mean by "in thirds"?

"In thirds" means instead of playing the scale sequencially: (do, ra, mi, fah, so) you play it: (do, mi, ra, fah, mi, so) etc. Thirds means an interval of a third between each note. So a C scale played like that would be C, E, D, F, E, G, F, A, G, B, D, C and back down again. It gets you a lot more comfortable with the scale than by just playing it straight.
It takes awhile to get it down but it's really a great exercise.

Thats an example of a scale sequence and yes they are much more helpful than playing it straight.

Scales, mainly. Very useful for jazz, since many solos rely on complete theoretical knowledge.

does anyone have any patterns they play as practice, besides scales. Sometimes when i'm helping someone new-ish to guitar, I'll have them play satellite (with 3rds instead of 5ths) as practice.

there are a lot of chromatic exercises that are meant to build dexterity, rather then for memorization

I know 0 scales except for basic major scale. I just sit down fiddle, improv, or play a song.

Amen! Me too... that's just what I enjoy most. They just seem to much like homework to me (I'm in highschool) for me to have any fun with them at all, so I just dont practice them, lol
