now just give me a few months and i'll play it better than Shane Bshane wrote:thanks, i take pride in that tabelijah77jc wrote:oh shane, i was going to tell you on AIM but it doesn't seem to be working...

I'll check it out and thanks to everyone for not attacking me. I was expecting some fightin' words.elijah77jc wrote:MWR wrote: I never said it sucked in fact I complemented the guitar playing more than once.
As far as the lyrics go:
Your mercy reigns
Your mercy comes
Your mecy falls
and rises with the sun
Your mercy reigns
Your mercy comes
Your mecy falls
and rises with the sun
EVERY song is like this and I find no substance in it. It's all about his "relationship" with Jesus which is fine but where does life, love, death, sadness, happiness etc. fit into that? If anything it's absurdly narrowminded and could never appeal to an athiest or more specifically a pagan. Sorry if this upsets you and feel free to show me a song without this bleeding heart, I must repent for my sins for I am a sinner even though I've devoted all myself to you oh Lord Jesus flimflam, and I'll add it to my playlist.
ohhh ok, i thought you were talking bad about the vocals, not the lyrics.
the thing about this, is that it's a worship song so it's not going to appeal to an athiest or more specifically a pagen![]()
Shane and Shane do mostly worship music so you'll probably only be able to enjoy the guitar playing from them...
they do a song called "prodigal me" that has less of a worship tone if you want to give that a listen.

MWR by the way, i think i sounded meaner than i intended.. ive come across a lot of people who wont even give music a chance because it could have some Christian content.. i dont know if you could know how annoying it is.MWR wrote:I'll check it out and thanks to everyone for not attacking me. It's hard to notice with their music, isn't it? Ed Roland(and Dean Roland)'s father is a priest and they were always real religious. that's how they all got into music and then the band formed.. they're really good.. too bad ross childress left and they're without a lead guitarist right now.. last concert of theirs i went to, they had Ed's sound tech(Joel Kosche) play lead.. he is just as good if not better then Ross waselijah77jc wrote:wow, i didn't know collective soul was a christian band.DMBFan63 wrote:One band i would say check out if you wanna hear killer ass christian rock: Collective Soul.

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.

I heard that too, but i saw them a while back at a small club in cincy, and someone threw something on the stage and the lead singer said" "if one more person throws one more fucking thing on this stage were fucking walking off." Granted I would have said worse, but i thought it was amusing coming from a "christian" bandDMBFan63 wrote:It's hard to notice with their music, isn't it? I'd have to agree with you there. I mean, it's better than a lot of people can do. It's all about the timing, getting the fast strumming in there without losing the underlying rhythm of the song.
I played for a while with this Celtic group, and they did a lot of things that had strum patterns like the guy on the right was playing toward the end of song 4. It does take some time to get the timing as I said, but it's not uber-impressive. Once you get it down though, it's pretty fun to strum the shit out of something like that.
This was kind of cool though. I thought I was the only moron out there using two capos on some songs. Anyone know of any other artists that use 2?
If you want to see/hear some mad strumming, check out a live Dave and Tim Dancing Nancies. Toward the end Tim strums like crazy. I saw them in 1999 in Des Moines and at Luther, and you couldn't even see his hand, it was just a blur. If anyone makes me feel retarded on guitar, it's Tim.
