12-String songs

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

12-String songs

Post by scottwagen »

Hey everyone, I just bought a new 12-string and I was wondering, aside from the 12-string songs, are there any other DMB songs that sound really good on a 12? I've been fiddling around with a bunch of dave's stuff and most are either too much to handle on a 12 (ie. billies) or they just sound like poo. Minarets and LIOG are the only songs I have been able to find that sound pretty decent. Thanks.

PS. Im still new at this message board thing but I'd just thought I'd throw in my cudos to everyone for making this board amazing.

Also for general interest you can check out my guitar @ http://www.normanguitars.com , I have the B20 (12) and my 6 is the B20 CW

Thanks again.

Dave plays a 12 string, he used to play a Martin D12-28, but since the LWS, he has used his big Taylor 12 string. These are songs he has played on a 12 string

Spoon (during d&t)
JTR/John the Revelator
Bartender
Big Eyed Fish
Sweet Up And Down
Grey Street
Raven
Monkey Man
Kit Kat Jam
Everyday (only on the album)
Where Are You Going (only on the album)
Yes, I am in a box

Don't Drink The Water has been played on the 12 at one show. Sounds pretty decent. I really wish he'd play more songs on the 12 so it's not as predictable live.

JTR? I had way too much fun the first time I played a 12, and started up JTR. I need to get one when I get some cash.

He also played last stop on a 12 for some of the D&T shows. It hurts your hand like a mofo but it sounds unbelievable.

John The Relevator was actually played on a 6 string, JTR on a 12.

Listening to Storytellers right now. It's defiantely a 12 string Dave is playing. When he wrote it with Santana and Carter, I don't know, but when he played it with Tim and/or Santana live, it was a 12.

I've never heard the Storytellers version, but on 3.14.99, when he played with Tim and Santana, he used a 6 string.

I really highly doubt dave played a 12 string in 93. He was using his Chet (and was setting down the Ovation) and his yamaha. Can you confirm somehow that it's him playing a 12?
