Hey Everyone,
As you can see I'm new to these boards. I have been reading them for awhile, but just recently decided to make a name.
I have been playing guitar for just under a year, and I'm looking for a new one. Right now I'm on electric but am looking for a decent acoustc electric. I am looking at the Ibanez AEF30, any guitar in thr MArtain X series, and the Takamine EG523SE.
Please give your input on these guitars and/or any other options.
Buy the Tak. I own that very model and it is an absolutely wonderful instrument, not just for the price. I would advise you to stay away from Martins in general and especially the X series. But the EG523 is fantastic.
Welcome to DMBTabs! Can't say it enough. (been wanting to do that for awhile!)
In answer to your question, Takamine makes a decent quality mid priced guitar. I've got an EG530SC. Decent tone and very playable neck. D series Martins are good for the price as well. They're all wood (mahogany) and have a nice bassy tone. I also have a 000-15 and love it! Your best bet is to play everything you can get your hands on and decide from there. It all boils down to personal preference.

Thanks for the input. I was able to try the Takamine and liked it. I would like to try one of these Martins as I have heard good things about them as well.

i have a Tak as well...EG334SBC of something like that.... it's pretty sweet... it you have enough money, buy a top of the line martin or taylor though... those guitars are made to get better with age because of the coating and wood that are used.. the more ya play, the better you get and the better the guitar gets
definately don't go for a martin. unless you have over a thousand dollars, martins arent worth it. you can get a much better guitar for the 500-600 you would spend on a low end martin.
go for the takamine. i have a takamine EG334SC, and I love it.
Ya I did like the Takamine. I haven't been able to try the MArtin but from the sound of it it isn't really worth it. Im not intending to buy a guitar over 700 until I become better. So it looks like the takamine wins.

lower end martins -- yes, stay away
if you're lucky enough to be able to purchase a higher end martin, they are great guitars

wtf are you talking about dude..haha
i own a dx-1 and it's an incredible guitar. i've had it for three years. and why would you ever tell this kid to stay away from martins? are you on crack? dave plays martin guitars...they're obviously not a shitty guitar. c.f. martin & co. make outstanding instruments. excellent quality and tone. otherwise my parents paid over $500 for a shitty guitar? i think not. that comment made you seem like you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
GET A MARTIN, YOU WON'T BE SORRY!
