No offense but I highly doubt that.
Alot of people seem to think that for some reason, but I guarantee if they sat down next to dave and played along with him, theyd quickly realize theyre not that good.
I have yet to ever hear or see anyone play a Dave song as good as 'Dave'
there have been some that sound close
i know when i say i play one 'perfectly', i mean 'perfect for my standards'
its kinda humbling when i can play and sing to the stone, just about everything else at least decently, but i cant get that little part of jimi thing down. the part "some times i take a jimi thing". just cant sing and play to that for some reason. of all the ones i already know, fool to think took a long time, and warehouse also took a while. i didnt even try to learn the stone until after i had been playing for a good while, so that didnt seem nearly as hard.

yeah it's weird how it works...simply put i think it's due to the fact that we've all developed our own styles while learning these songs in different orders and therefore some songs that may seem harder for some are easier for others and vice versa... it's tough to stick to one song when practicing...i always end up jumping from song to song instead of just focusing on one song at a time for a longer period
Satellite verse. I have it down now, finally, but my hands still cramp up like a mother f***. It took me over a year to get.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I agree, and I think a lot of it has to do with the many non-Dave songs I'm sure (at least I HOPE) we all play. The way you learn also determines the way you write.

Rapunzel is in 5/4, if I remember right. I think it's:

I dont find it that way. I count it in 4 then it goes to 12 in the chorus. It works.

You'd be coming in early on the intro/bridge riff, then. The A to G slide would be off.

yes you do and help myself is easy
Ok, that was rude. Also, I couldn't get the rythm down on Help Myself, but can for Warehouse. What do you have against me (if that wasn't a joke)?

My problem is that you talk alot of shit. That's all.
I've been playing alot of these tunes LITERALLY for 10 years. And to this day - my Satellite blows. I mean, I can play it...but not smoothly and completely and with singing.
Usually with a Dave song, you have to separate the playing from the singing at first and practice the playing until it becomes second nature. Then can overlay the singing and you're able to bring everything back together. (Note: That's the key to the Tripping Billies verse...the singing and the playing don't seem to "go together" until you've mastered the playing part).
But with Satellite...I can't seem to marry the two. And my hand starts to hurt like a bitch after two verses.
<blush>I am ashamed of myself</blush>
P.S. For all of you guys who are old enough to remember the Blue Water Baboon Farm website...I've been prodded and inspired to bring it back. I'll keep you guys posted.
