my birthday is coming up in July, so i thought i deserve a present.
after months of going down to Guitar center, spending hours playing this guitar, and groaning about the 500 dollar prics tag. i found one on ebay. and the seller said he was selling it because "he just doesn't play enough electric to justify keeping it" which is code for "it hasn't been played much" which means "good condition" and considering it is a 2002 model, it's pretty new. I paid 220. haha
It's an Epiphone AlleyKat and maybe i'll post recordings when it gets here later this week. It's a semi-hollow and i still can't believe gibson passed on this and didn't make it part of their line. it plays better than the bb kings.
Single cutaway, semi-hollow body of Mahogany. Laminated Maple top with bound f-holes, 24.75" scale, Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard and block inlays. Distinctive Regent headstock. One New York mini-humbucker at the bridge and one classic '57 humbucker. Stopbar tailpiece. Cherry sunburst. it's got a master volume on the lower bout for volume effects (but i'll probably continue to use my pedal) It's a really versatile guitar from screaming to jazzy and everything inbetween.

it seems like there was a bad lot put out cuz there were a few very dissatisfied people on Harmony-central, but if you ignore that, and the cheap pick-up selector, i haven't seen a single bad review.
there are nobody out there claiming this is a "so-so" guitar. it's either love it and wonder how gibson could have possibly passed on this model, or you hate it and it gives you nothing but trouble.
and considering i heard sound samples before i bought it (i had the seller play it over the phone a little), i'm sure it rocks.

could have been the one I played.
I'm not sure what that means,
<Overly Negative response> I suppose in some extremely small probability the guitar i bought is the exact one that you hated when you played it. yep. if you are trying to rain on my parade by telling me that epiphones suck and that all alleykats suck and that i suck and hahaha, i just don't care. shoot, mr. lennon, you should know that the beatles played epiphones...
or
<Honest and Positive response> you must have meant "couldn't". of course! cuz you like epiphones. The beatles rocked the epi casinos. Maybe if i'm ever in Wisconsin, we'll get a chance to jam sometime. Cuz i like you, and while i voted for you to change your avatar last year, i like it now. rock on.
Also, about Paul, George, and John, I am saving up to buy an Epi Casino! It's down at the store. I loved it. Paul has said it's his favorite gitar, and still records with his from the 60s. When you get the guitar, write a review about it.
