if you have a good tuner, use it when capoed. youll see youre sharp.
dude who cares?
it doesnt matter unless youre recording somthing important
its not gonna put you out of your singing range or anything
and intonation within the band is already bad, so a few cents off from the guitar wont matter

Kyser capos can cause more fret wear than usual because they exert so much non-adjustable pressure. The Shubb Deluxe has a little set screw thing that you can use to adjust the clamping pressure, which is much better. Not as easy to store during play or get on/get off the guitar quickly, but it is a much better design IMHO.

I like my Third Hand Capo. Made by an instructor from the local Good & Loud Music store. Here, check it out: http://thirdhandcapo.com/

hmmmm....I don't trust capos that involve a strap or band around the neck.

I heard somewhere that putting a capo on the headstock will actually help the sound of the guitar because it limits the vibration on the neck of the guitar. I'm not positive if it works though.

He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.

Yeah I kinda figured it was one of those things that you'd never notice. Kinda like if you play your stereo loud and put your guitar next to the speaker while you're gone, its supposed to break it in faster.

capo?

Unread post by snapoffmode » Wed Jun 16, 2004 2:53 pm

my guitar teacher told me that he has some friends that swear by the capo on the headstock thing...claiming that it improves the sound by limiting lost vibrations.....and by the same token.....that's why lots of people "block" their bridges on electrics, or some people have a small piece of wood at neck, or fill in all the open spaces on their electrics...the tremelo sping area (with puddy or whatever) to make sure the body receives the most amount of vibration rather than losing some of the sound. makes sense to me but then again.....i'm not too sure that many people would notice a difference.

but back to the original post.....i think it could have also been a tuner too. i saw a concert on tv with keb mo. he had this weird thing on this headstock that protruded behind the headstock. i later saw it online and it was a tuner.

I block the bridge on my electric so it doesn't movie and it stays in tune better. I never heard of blocking it for better tone.
