Guitar and singing

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

yeah typical takes some time. You have to slow it way down to get it.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I can pretty much sing any song while I'm playing.

I like to improvise, sing the song and just throw shit in, screw around have a good time. It keeps you up to par.

Also helps to be able to play the song (without singing) with your eyes closed. Then it's just doing what you do naturally and adding shit on top.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

Congrats, but I don't think you answered or helped him at all!
all sarcasm aside, just really try and do anything (talk, walk, watch TV) while your playing will help because it helps makes playing the song second nature so you can concentrate more on the lyrics and not what your fingers are doing

Aint it funny how just one day you can do things like that? I remember I was learning some songs a while back, and like you I was playing along with the cd, and found out I was singing along too.

I also find that thinking about it too much will really mess you up. A guy said earlier that you just gotta feel the music. And REMEMBER, you know these songs dude. Sing them all the time, in the shower, in your head, just keep that rythem going, that way when you play the song, the singing will be more automatic and you can concentrate on the fingering and strumming.

Start on your low E string (the thickest one on the guitar) , hit that open E, and "laaa" with it, now go up to the next note up on that string (F), and "laa" with it, until you get all the way up that neck "laaa"ing with every note, then go up the next string the same way, not only are you learning all the notes on your guitar and memorizing thier position (Thus allowing you to sing play AND not have to look at the guitar while doing it) but your warming up your voice to sing in key with the guitar, I've never seen this method fail.

As for playing just by "feeling it" of course you have to do that, but theory is a very important part of any form of playing music, whether it be voice, guitar, bass, bassoon, whatever.

So do that, good luck.

EDIT: Damn I need sleep, I mixed up the string descriptions, thanks to those who corrected me *SLAP*

The low e is the thickest, the high e is the thin one
Low and High refer to the pitch
