So, I'm trying Elixirs...

Post by mlee »

Well just though I'd post to let you all know that I'm trying some elixirs on my guitar now. I've got some nanowebs, mediums. I can't believe how bright they are. It's almost too much, do they always sound that bright or will it go down some in a couple of days?? I'm used to my regular old D'addario EJ17's.

Not to mention how slippery they are...

you'll get used to the sound. It's so different the first couple times you play on them, but it will sound normal after that. The best thing about them is that you can pick up your geetar with 3 week old strings and they sound the same as when you bought them.

I've personally boycotted Elixirs. You should have stayed with your D'addario's!! way wayyy better strings.
Look up, look down, look all around.

I think that could be the right thing to do. I'm not really digging these strings that much. The only time I like them is when I'm fingerpicking. I think I'll be going back to my EJ17's after these Elixirs wear out.

you can also slap on some nice Dean Markley or DR strings. ;) Both of those give fuller sound. When I can't find Dean Markleys in stock, I go for DR. Also, someone said they wear out quickly. Well, maybe the reason why mine don't is because I don't use a pick, so I am much more gentle on them. DR strings are just as good, IMO (well, for my jazz, I get gibson flat wires, just a very nice warm sound).
Yes, I am in a box

Thanks for the suggestions, Ranting. I'll keep that in mind when the time comes.
