DOes Dave do n e thing thumb mutes or play a note wiht his thumb, i saw a video, and was positive he did, but i cannot recall what the song was? thanks?!!!

not entirely true, he plays the D/F# with his thumb, however past that you wont see his thumb fretting much.

he doesnt really use his thumb but at times he does

ive only seen him use his thumb for muting, but as tadder said, there are maybe a few notes he frets with his thumb

all good guitar players use their thumb....its a tough to get use to and keep the notes sounding correct....but it pays off in the end
