DMBFan63 wrote:I mean you know how you hold the 5th fret to tune your E string? Hold the 6th instead, like you're about to tune drop D, but 6th instead of 7th fret. Then tune it till the E and A sound the same when you hold E on the 6th fret.. if you need more help, hit me up on aim, i'll try to do my best
Ive never tuned like that before, Ive always used a tuner.
You should definitely learn how to tune by ear, your fucked if your ever with a untuned guitar and no tuner
Yeah, i can't help you out then.. i would've said capo idea, but i usually don't have a capo on hand when tuning half step down

Yeah, I think everyone should really spend some time practicing identifying notes by ear. Anyway, if you're in standard, do this:

Hold your 6th string on the 6th fret and tune it down until that note is an A. Then your 6th string will be Eb when it's open. Now hold it at the fifth fret (Ab) and tune your 5th string down until it matches the frequency. Use the natural harmonics for accuracy, and do the same with the 4th and 3rd strings. Then hold down your 3rd string on the fourth fret and tune that 2nd string (B) down to Bb. Lastly, hold your 2nd string down at the fifth fret, and that'll be Eb, so just make you 1st string match that frequency and you'll be all tuned and ready to go. :)

Thanks for going into all of that, I will definitely play around with that! :D
