Problems with Raven

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Problems with Raven

Post by PilotC150 »

I'm onto Raven now. I have the verse down good. But I don't see where the verse end is (second line of verse tab) also I can't quite get the chorus. Any help? Maybe typing the lyrics and showing where the verse end and chorus are??

the chorus has a tough rhythm, all i can say is try finding a copy of it from 10/24/02 acoustic, i usually listen to acoustic stuff to help me out with rhythm...hope that helps

So i got the chorus now. But i can't get this part:

Code: Select all

E:-----------------------
B:-----------------------
G:---2-------2-----9--9--
D:--------------------x--
A:---x-------x-----x--7--
E:-1-1-----3-3-----8-----

I don't even hear it the same as it's tabbed. I'm just not hearing it right. I don't know if anybody can help. But if you can, at least give it a shot.

Man, it's really hard to hear. You really have to get a copy of the solo show to understand it. If not then you kinda strum the second chord longer and then move the the final three chords. It doesn't flow like you would think. That song is all about timing and rythm. You can't just play it...it is a weird song. But fun to play when you can get it down.

Good to know I'm not the only one that's had this problem. I'll listen through 10-24-02 a few more times. Maybe somebody could get me a recording of them playing that part? Just guitar, I don't need singing. Please?!?!

I've had numerous problems with this song...it's just weird...I doubt I really have it now, but I just don't care at the moment. One day I'll sit down with benaroya and work it out because it is a sweet song!

completely agree, I often just play the verse riff for no good reason at all...I love the way it sounds on my gibson, just gutsy when I leave the low E open on the first chord giving every chord in the song a deep sound...vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooom!

I love that opening chord 0-11-9-11-12-X. At first I was like :? is this right - but then after a bit its like yeah that's the shit :) I like sliding down on the b and g strings into the G chord. I play it randomely as well. The chorus part is beautiful, I must say.
