The Origins of Raised B

I was at the guitar shop yesterday buying strings and explaining what I was doing and the owner looked at me like I was nuts when I said Raised B. Where did this come from? Is it not a common thing?

well, i know 'here comes the sun' is usually said to be capoed at the seventh fret...but i would bet that ole george played it in raised b instead of capo'ing...but maybe not

I'm pretty sure that I saw a video of him playing it capo'ed, but I could be wrong. It wouldnt suprise me if he did though....those crazy beatles.

you can't tune a regular guitar to Baritone but you can tune it up to raised B if you use lighter strings.

God only knows what Dave was thinking when he strung up his guitar like this but it is really exclusive to Dave as far as wide spread guitar knowledge. there are some alto guitars out there meant to be tuned up to A but this is weird.

as far as any other songs (Here Comes the Sun, other capo 7 stuff) is not any raised B. no way.

I was thinking about this a while ago and this is the best that I could come up with (all speculation, of course):

Dave had been playing with baritone tuning for a while. He started fiddling with some stuff that sounded cool, but didn't quite sound right on a baritone guitar. So he decided to see how it sounded an octave up. He mentioned this to his guitar tech, who strung him up a guitar an octave above baritone (except for the high string, because it would break). The songs worked fine, because all of the fingering was exactly the same as it would be on a baritone guitar.

also, I don't think there is a proper name for it. It's an octave above baritone tuning, so I guess it's just easier to say Raised B.

Yeah, i guess it doesn't matter what it's called. If it were in a guitar book, it'd prolly be Standard tunning raised 2 1/2 steps.
