OMFG!
DO NOT DO THIS!

They're using Windows Media. It's proprietary, unbelievably lossy for the bitrate, and a horrible format. When they announced they were using the same company that Phish is using, I assumed that meant they would also use open-source formats - MP3 and FLAC. Now they've gone to fucking corporate money-grabbing Microsoft. I'm considering flying out to Charlottesville and shooting every member of DMB management. (Not really, I'm a peaceful guy.)

Because I love the idea of band-sponsored SBDs... and I think it's ridiculous they are wasting this wonderful opportunity. They are copying directly from Phish, yet they can't even copy correctly... Phish does it correctly, DMB is not doing it correctly.Ranting Thespian wrote:why is anyone complaining? This will not stop tape trading, or ftp, or such. Don't like, don't do it. That's it.

I see no problem with this....especially since they are studio albums which can be purchased in CD format at any retail CD store.
They are simply giving you another option to buy their recordings.
If you dont like it...Dont buy it. Real simple folks.
What does allowing digital studio albums have to do with soundboard recordings??????
