Best Opening Song

Post by onemoredrink »

Whats the best song to open a concert. Don't Drink the Water seems to be a favorite. Also Drive In Drive Out, Warehouse, #41, The Stone or Pantala Naga Pampa leading into Rapunzel. Recently alot of new songs like Grey Street or Captain will start of. Whats your favorite?

The Stone is one of my favs, but I don't think its that great of an opener. Just my opinion. Same thing kinda applies to WH and DIDO. They are pretty aggresive for openers. I kinda like a poppy song. Like one of their singles is a good opener.

There is no better opener than DDTW.

And yes, my opinion is final. ;)

Warehouse, Stop Time Intro. I love listening to the crowd go nuts during the pause.

I prefer Warehouse later in the setlist (towards the encore but not in it). My favorite opener is What You Are.

I think Grey Street is a great opener...nothing like getting the crowd into in with a bang.

The best surprise I've had was in Albany 2002 - Granny. Totally caught me off guard and it was tremendous.

I'd like to amend my post a tad. While DDTW is the best opener I've ever heard, I think my most preferred opener of the whole catalog would be BOWA (I don't know if it's ever been played as an opener).

I think so right would be a pretty cool opener... never heard it as one though...... But I think Pantala Naga Pampa is a great opener... just those lyrics.. kinda takes you away from the world and its just you and the band for a couple of hours.

somethin upbeat. I actually like when they open with smts. Its a staple that gets people movin, gets the flow going. But I would have to agree that the ultimate opener is Seek Up. (BTW-no show can even pretend be "the best show ever" unless seek up is played at some point. That is all.)

i have to agree that seek up is an awesome opener, as well as best of whats around but like BigSpeen3436 said i think its good to open a show with a single because while its an awesome song its still played way to much but you know their gonna play it sometime in the show so they might as well open with it cause eveyone's gonna sing together to it. so i think too much is a good opener. :P
