It appears the delayed 2002 Gorge Run again has a release date. June 22 is listed as the date of the highly anticipated release, according to musictap.net. The Gorge release was pushed back at the very least to rush the Central Park Concert to stores. There also were some post production issues associated with the weather conditions during the 3-day concert run. The earliest release date listed for this project was November 6, 2003 and way way back in 2002 an hour portion of the concert appeared on MusicChoice. In December, 2002, editing was well underway for the release, according to some post-production crew members. The June 8 date was then set but now appears to have been pushed back to June 22 "due to changes in the package", says musictap.net. "Live at the Gorge will now be a 3 disc package (2CD and 1DVD) and will be available in both amaray and jewel casing."
I'm a little dissapointed as it seems that we will not get to see the whole 3-day run on DVD. I was there, but I want to have it on DVD...
Sounds like they're cutting a lot out. They played about 50 different songs, and if you cut out the repeats (there were only like 6 repeated songs) it's still almost 6 hours of music. I doubt they'll fit that into 2 cd's or 1 dvd.
Wasn't it supposed to have a ton of extras and include all three shows. Doesn't seem like it will now. It will be just like all the other ones already out.

If you think you're so tough, why don't you put on a jersey?
Maybe they have it set up where they have some of the songs on the two CDs, and the more "popular" songs from the three day concert on DVD. But maybe I'm just being an idiot and not really know what the hell I'm talking about. Just my opinion though I'll still buy, though I am a little disappointed

I don't remember being promised anything. I do remember people trying to get "inside" information about it, which resulted in a LOT of rumor and speculation, but I don't remember the band ever saying anything about how they were going to release an entire box set with special features and whatnot.
Speaking of the Gorge, i will be going up there for the concert in September. How is the best way to get there from outside the state? I will have to fly in.

If you are flying in, most likley you will be landning in Sea-Tac International which is about 20 minutes south of Seattle. But that is still 2 3 hours from the Gorge. You will probably need to rent a car and bring a map.
For the Gorge, they officialy asked for tons of people to send in tapes and pictures from the show, and was going to be a huge thing of extras (and there were the videos that Fenton did with Dave playing a preshow with Jason Mraz that I thought was going to be on the DVD as well). That was said (not exact words) by the band and it's "people". Looks like those extras are out the window now, since to have them it would need more than 1 dvd.
I hope they aren't going to have just a selection of songs from the 3 shows, and just choose one night out of the three (because a whole concert is an experience, and to just cut out a bunch, they don't flow like a regular dmb concert flows, with the energy from one song to the next).
I am not getting any hopes up, though, fearing a big let down, but it's their decision, and we just have to sit back, wait, and see.

You're exactly right, beggers can't be choosers I really hoped for the whole thing in a box set though. Maybe one day, further on down the road, they'll re-release the WHOLE package. You know, like how Jimmy Page goes and finds old stuff, remasters it, and releases it. Kinda like the Zep DVD, I hope something like that would happen. I don't want to wait that long though Oh well.
I got it, I think I know why it's not all 3 shows. They have said for a while about troubles with footage and such because environental things, and more. It could be that they just didn't get good clear footage there, and so they don't want to release 3 dvds where half the footage is bad. So, that might be why it's only 1 dvd now.
