ATTN: All those having trouble with the stone

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

the stone

Post by gravedigger »

superman,

I don't mean to be critical, and its cool that you took the time to do the video to help out, but I think your verse part isn't quite right. Jkanter's tab is a bit different. the bold 3 is actually what I play instead of the 3 below it but either way is good. the tab book is not as accurate as the man himself.

verse:

E:----------------------------------------------------------------------
B:----------------------------------------------------------------------
G:--3-------------------2-----------------------
D:--x---5-5--2-3-2------(3)-------3--0--2----0----
A:--1----------------5-----3--1----------------3--0--5
E:-3-------------------------------------------
4 1 2 4 4 1 2 1 4 4 1 2 1 4 1 2 1 4 2 3

and the chorus is this, what Jkanter has up.

E:--------------------
B:--------------------
G:--5----5----5----5-- <---4
D:-/3----2----3----2-- <---1
A:------------5----3-- <---3on5(2on3)
E:--------------------
(1)

peace,
Ken

ok, the reason I posted the chorus too, is cause you made a mistake when you wrote it out. The video is cool.

Good job, overall though, man.

superman, you frigging rule..

So the 2-3-2 is a hammer on, ahahahaha... Took a bit for the vid to download on my 56k, but it was worth it. Man, do I feel dumb now, lol.

The verse video is coming along now, slowly but surely, and I'll letcha know how I end up. Thank you very much, especially for playing it slow a few times first, lol! :D

no biggie, its just that you said that your way is the RIGHT way to play it. I think that the tab on this site is more accurate and beginners should know that. I'm sure the video for The Stone will be up when Jkanter gets his camera back.

I agree, but the videos really helped with the timing, which was where I was having trouble. I can play all of the Stone just fine, it's just the timing is crazy..

Thanks again, superman.

Now if I can just get the singing.. :P

I wrote up the strumming pattern to Crash in another post:
http://www.dmbtabs.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=183

It's not a video, just formatted text notation describing the pattern but you might find it useful.
