Or if you want contrast, try grey street. That song is about forsaking God. Just kidding.

Save me would be my favorite choice, a nice play on words over Jesus's temptation in the desert and a good gospel singing oppurtunity. Make sure to get a nice organ player and plenty of good guitarists to back you up.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But ONLY if you're serious about adopting the vulture.

you don't have to sing do you?

just saying, you could just play the music from about any song you want.
also,
I've realized that easy songs played perfect get a better responce than hard songs played poorly.(or just not as good as it could be)

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": Do you use this word? Alcoves?

My band sang their song Liquid at our good friday service. It was totally tight.

I'm the worship leader at my church so this post got my attention. I'd certainly go back and read the biblical context of the line "eat drink and be merry" before you decide on playing that one just to be sure the true meaning of that verse is the same as what you're thinking it means.

Before I read this post, I had also been thinking about some good DMB songs that could be played at church. The first one that came to mind was Antz Marching. I think it's got a great message about how we're all getting to a point in life where we're no longer taking the time to "stop and smell the roses".

I'd have to go back and reread the lyrics to Granny, but that seemed like another potentially good song. :)

And I agree with what was suggested earlier. If you haven't heard any of David Crowder's stuff, do so. He was highly influenced by dave matthews style, and it really shows in his first indie CD "All I can Say".

Ranting, do you live in a religous house or grow up with parents who made you go to church?

instead of tequila drinking you could say "and i was thinking, oh our minds will wander to wanderous places"
