Time for a new bass

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Time for a new bass

Post by i like tictacs »

I have my eye on a few things...a warwick corvette or thumb, a spector something, and some type of modulus, but it would have to be used(flea or quantum). what are people opinions on these, i've only played the warwicks and spectors. i hear modulus are VERY nice but i'd really like to play before i buy, and the bass i have now is starting to kind of shit the bed on me.

A used Flea can usually be had for $1100-$1200. . . well, at least before the recent Modulus price hike of around $400-$800 on new basses.

I have a Flea, and it works very well for the rock band I'm in, but it has an aggressive nature to it that *can* make it a little harsh in certain other settings. The Quantum is going to be more versatile overall. Those usually go for around $1300-1500 used.

Modulus and Warwick both have a very specific tone. You really need to play as many of them as you can before you buy.

I also have a Lakland Skyline Glaub-signature (P-bass), so between the two I've got the tonal spectrum pretty much covered.

What kind of music do you play?
