He does that in The Riff live but says "damn" instead on the album.

I listened for the third time this morning, but it was the first with a good pair of headphones and my full attention. I did actually like it considerably more than my first two listens. There's more depth to it than I initially thought.

That said, I still don't see it having longevity, mainly because of weak lyrics. I can't stomach Dave's songwriting being limited to either "save the world", "I've got kids", and "I still enjoy my wife's company". Musicians in pain are so much more interesting.

I love Sweet so much. I'm so glad Lillywhite got to produce this one. I feel like most producers would've fucked up the part where the band comes in. Lillywhite's so good at that shit.

Is it bad that I kind of wish that upon him?

Get rid of the screeching trumpet/saxophone runs and Zeppelin rip-off overdrive and I think this band could make interesting music again
I haven't bought the new album and probably won't...heard a few new songs. But I had to comment. Tim's stuff is a complete disaster. Even hearing the new live D&T stuff, when he's not making cellphone noises with an electric, it just seems much less composed, thought out, and complementary to what Dave is playing. I still listen to Luther College every now and then and I still think the stuff he played back then was mostly brilliant. Now the stuff he plays drives me nuts. I don't know what happened.

It's hard, but I have to agree with this. The difference from Luther to Radio City was already clear.
And with the electric guitar he just seems to come up with the worst parts of TR3...

Well, 2 cents from Portugal that has been away for a while!

Listened to it on the train to work and the way back. Nothing stuck out. Pretty average.

About 4 or 5 listens in now and i'm enjoying at a lot more than i did first time round. Dave's lyrics at times are awful, just seems like he's ran out of things to sing about. But then he's still capable of some really good moments. Sweet is a beautiful little song, Love the music to Drunken Soldier - a song comparable to BTCS if there ever was one.

Snow outside is decent as are a few others. Over all when you compare it to BWGGK is almost certainly a better album. In fact it 100% is.

Would love to hear what just the fice of them could come up with though.

Totally. I keep finding myself wondering what it would sound like without Tim and Rashawn. They need to simplify a bit, I think.

If they aren't going to get rid of Timmy at the bare minimum, they need to get the electric guitar out of his hands and give him an acoustic guitar (that's a simple fix). What he added Under the table, crash and BTCS complemented the band well. That electric guitar is #*$%ing it up!

There's way less electric Tim on this album than on Big Whiskey.
