WWYS: everything just clicked..

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

that would make things so much "easier". strumming my little heart out while my fretting hand works double time.

(it 11am, i'm durunk again it heavy on my mind) what would you say is such an awesome song. i learned that song a long time ago, probably 1999. it was one of the first dave songs that i learned. it actually helped me earn my first "one night stand" which i've told the story already on this board so i'm not going to repeat it. but anyways, i understand what you mean by how the song just comes to you. wwys is a feel it song i think, its a lot like smts in a sense/the intro. once you get the jam down you feel like god when you play the song in public. i suggest watching dave on snl to get the verse down, its very focused on dave and he does an excellent performance with the jam, let alone the song. anyways, wwys is one of those songs that are really popular that you know you should know how to play but are still very difficult to learn, like every dave song.
its always fun when you have a party planned at your place but then at the last second its cancelled and then its on again, lets just say there's lots of alchol in my place and nobody to drink it but me :D
peace out.

its amazing how dave can put all those weird chords together.. i mean.. who thinks of these chords.. do you think of what chords sound like by just playing notes on the fretboard in your head or something? i wish i could... wwys jam is one of my favorite dave jams.. too bad it doesnt use easier chords.

The WWYS jam isnt that bad...it took me a solid day or so to get down, but its really only the first two chords that take a little practice. If anyone reading this is intimidated by it, dont worry about doing all the little slides he does at the end...you can slowly add those with practice later. Just get the core five down, and maybe one of the easy end variations (x5x7xx -> x7x9xx.) The rest comes along quickly.

1. He's not "strumming his heart out"...so much as hitting near the string thats fretted...not strumming

and

2. dave has muting in his blood...that ish is prolly like xecond nature to him now - so yes..prolly easier for him.

As whether or not its easier for you...thats for you to decide
My "gitter" was my best investment

hard...

Post by CPTino3001 »

I don't think the first two chords are to bad...the hard thing for me is going from the third to the fourth chord (A to whatever)...

I cheat on the first two chords of the jam... I tabbed em out on the higher strings and now I only have to move one finger.

Yea, I play this for the first 2 chords. Different voicing and it makes the switch to the next 3 chords easier.

Code: Select all

e -3--3-
B -3--2-
G -0--0-
D -2--2-
A -2----
E ------

Same problem!!! I think the first two chords are pretty easy...the first is the same stuff of Crash Into Me and the second is a simple A7...!! :)

i dont click much anymore, I usually just find a song and play it until my fingers fall off, with a lot of cussing in between, but its worth it when you get it down
