Something Different - LIOG Saxophone Solo Freestyle

Post by Sheesh »

Just me messing around with a freestyle over the jam section of LIOG with my Alto Sax. Critique at will. (yup, i know i hit a few out of key notes :( )

The backing track is just the studio version of LIOG.

I've thought about doing something like this, but I have a horrible microphone and my sax sounds bad being recorded by it.

Edit: Sounded pretty good. It can be tough to play improv on a song... I've tried.

Thanks for all the comments/criticism guys.

DJR07 - Yeah my playing definitely needs work. My main problem is I rarely practice. I'm in the concert band and jazz band at school, and it's become a habit of mine to just leave my instrument at school. I had to bring it home this week because one of the valves was leaking so I had to take it a repair shop. First time it's come home since last summer :(.

Nice call on the concert D scale as well, I didn't even notice that was the key the song was in, I was just playing what sounded "right".

i'm the same way, symphonic band and jazz band, don't practice enough haha
i've played LIOG on piano outta the cherry lane book, so i knew what key it was
even if you don't practice, just keep playin, you might find you still like it, or maybe more dmb songs?? when i borrowed my friends alto i was trying to play with ants, kinda worked, but my family said i was way too loud, so i stopped :D
