wanted to add one more thing! some people have read this already, so they'll miss it if i don't add:

Make sure that when you send me the link of your original, your filename has your name on it. There are obviously going to be a lot of similar titles, so just name 'em:

isaac_hundredmoons.mp3
isaac_mourningsun.mp3

etc. It'll be less hassle for everyone in the end.

No computer mic or anything? Recording quality doesn't matter. If the song's good, it'll speak for itself.

I have a crappy computer mic that you have to use an adapter for the plug in and even with mic volume all the way up you can barely hear a thing

I was using an mc300 ev mic but it's been screwy. Good news is that on tuesday I'm getting my equipment for live performances and I'll be able to use the mic I buy for that at home as well for recording

Isaac... sorry for not submitting an entry this week. I had a friend visiting this weekend from out of town and just haven't had much of a chance to pick up the guitar in the past 4-5 days. I was thinking, maybe for the next songwriting activity, we should use a 2 or 3 week window. One week seems to go by so quickly!

I do think this is a great idea though... I feel a bit cruddy that I didn't follow-through this week.

I'll give it a listen when I post it up.

dmbguitar718, I'm not sure it'll count. It has to be somewhat inspired by this week's titles and I know you can sorta stretch that to make that fit, but there'll always be this coming week's.

Thanks for the interest. Oh, and it's not a contest. We've decided it's more of an "exercise."

And don't worry. This week probably wasn't the best week to get it started with a majority of people having spring break. I'm not sure about the 2-3 week window. That's almost too much time, and it's easy to forget or procrastinate. With the week's time period it challenges people to make an effort to pick up the guitar and at least play it, even if they don't have much luck making something in the end, therefore encouraging some guitar discipline. If this pattern of entries continues to occur, I'll probably extend it to 2 weeks, though. We'll see.

Don't worry about not following through. A lot of people had different problems with it. If I only get the 2 entries that I have now that'll be fine. There's always next week.
