are you kidding? i really hope so..
If you're implying that dave doesn't use any palm muting then you need to think again my friend.
TH I think he's implying that Dave uses a lot of palm muting and for those who cannot palm mute, should trying learning songs other than Dave songs bc there isn't as much muting.
What I believe I said was "on that song" I don't see how you would palm mute. I understand that he uses that technique and others to mute. I think the point here is doing it however you can to make it sound good.

What is with all this palm mute talk. Dave doesn't palm mute that often when he plays, if at all. Palm muting is used in raga style after every up stroke you mute with your palm to quiet the strings.(Bob Marley and Sublime)
or on a electric guitar you can mute with your palm and it gives you a mufled sound. You can mute with your palm on a acoustic guitar but it serves no purpose other than a sudden ending to a note. such as raga style.
Yeah I know there's no Pming on ants...sorry if I misled you. The topic is antz after all....so it's my bad. But yeah, message me if you would. I would really like to know how he mutes on antz.
I play it with a "kind" of palm muted...I think it's a common technique in acoustic songs...I just mute the strings not near the bridge but near the resonator...maybe i'm wrong, but it sounds great!!!
I only palm mute; I don't think I've ever tried it with my fret hand too much. It's easier when you play without a pick. With a pick, I have to pull my hand away to avoid an accidental strum, and it's really quite annoying.
I started with one, but I also started on an electric, too. I didn't buy an acoustic until seven or eight years after I started playing and as it is, I rarely touch the electric anymore. Whether or not I use a pick for my acoustic depends upon the song. For instance, I use a pick for for Tripping Billies, Dancing Nancies, and Two Step, but not for Best of What's Around, Crash, or Ants Marching. For Crush, I keep the pick hooked in my head and pull it out for the jam section of crush but don't use it for the verse or chorus. You just have to get used to it.
