I just learned the song last night so I thought I'd go ahead and make a recording I've never heard anyone do a cover of the song "Quiet" so I thought it would be a nice change from the standards "Why Georgia" or "Your Body is a Wonderland"
I spent like 2-3 hours on this so it's at least more work put into it than my last recordings
I've never heard the original, so I can't really speak to the accuracy, but I can still critique it from objective standpoint.
I liked it alot. The guitar was pretty solid throughout. Your vocals were a little whispery, and could have used some more breath support, but John sings in a similar raspy way, so you were probably trying to emulate him. The vocals were also out of tune at one spot, but you came back on pretty quickly, so its not a major issue.
In my opinion, you sound A LOT like John Mayer(naturally and as you have practiced I'm sure). It really sounds like he's someone that you have studied and wanted to emulate. I think you got his vocal style pinned...but anyway, the guitar was good, it's kind of a boring song in the first place, but you played it spot on, I guess; as I've never heard it...I would MUCH rather hear you do a serious version of Why Georgia, or any of the other hits...who cares if they have been done before, i'd still like to hear it.
it was a good cover..few things....
i wasn't diggin the sudden pauses throughout the song, they may have been on purpose to change the song a lil..but just my opinion..your voice sound very good, i hear mayer in ya as well..I guess my advice would be to work on getting the song to flow a little better...overall, pretty good:)

I totally agree with my man J............based on this cover I'm willing to bet you'd do a great "Why Georgia". So how 'bout it?

"Black and white and the rainbow five
Colors in my eyes" l dm l
I really appreciate the feedback There was definitely a more deliberate attempt to sound like Mayer vocally on this cover. I didn't want it to be to laughable (hope it wasn't) in being total impersonation so I tried to take it up just a little notch when it came to the chorus so you could hear my voice a bit, so to speak. Musically I tried to give it a bit more distinct breaks, not a fading effect, just one that makes it sound like I'm pondering this "quiet" situation... AND now that I've pondered I shall sing Maybe it was a bad choice, but I do kinda like that style in certain songs.
Btw guys, I have an EP of all my own original stuff coming out soon which is being produced at Summerhouse Records and my website will have the pre-pre production sound clips (mixes of some different songs) so I'll post some info as it comes a long and you can "hear" who I am more Thanks
Good job... I'm not familiar with the original. Regarding the recording, there is a lot of background noise... I'm not sure what's causing that. Also, your vocals get distorted (fuzzed out) at some points (you may be too close to the mic, or the levels are too high).
I'd also like to hear you do a version of Why Georgia.
I think you did a decent job vocally on this song. A couple times you went off key, I think due to the fact that you tried to change some notes from the original. The guitar was alright, quite different from the original. My main criticism would be to watch your rhythm. The song just has an overall choppy feel to it. Just try to get the guitar parts to flow better.
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later.

I haven't played "Why Georgia" in a looooooong time, I guess I could record it but I'll try to make it in more of my own style this time guys. I have to work today and Monday so I probably won't get around to it until Tuesday but I'll try to set some time aside for it.
Well my EV MC300 mic is FLAT OUT DEAD No worries, on Tuesday I'm buying my live equipment and Chuck from Summerhouse Records is coming with me to make sure I get the right stuff. I'm sure the mic I get will be good and I can use it at home for recording as well as my live shows. Don't see why not
