Why the tape?

Why did dave put black tape over the sound controls on the chet atkins sst?

basicly, those tone/volume controls aren't used, so they're taped so they don't change and the sound board changes everything

yeah dave uses a non factory sound system and he always tapes over them to make sure he doesnt mess up the settings while playing on stage...that would definately be a problem

actually, those knobs are useless to Dave. Since he put in a fishman pickup, it makes those knobs on top completely superfluous. The gibson preamp doesn't work with a fishman, so he can spin those wheels all he wants but it won't change his sound any.
