the regular open Am doesn't sound right, thanks though

i'm thinking x0(10)9(10)x

same chord but i get the A bass note...

any other suggestions?

the original one just doesn't sound full enough to be played solo on acoustic

how about fmaj7 being similar to dmaj7 on the second fret.
or c6, (1st, 3rd, and 6th of c)

... and what song is this for?
